The Stop the War campaigners are confusing the troops in Iraq with the Home Guard, the British Army has never fought on home soil. Our forces have invariably suffered their casualties abroad in response to this countries strategic interests as perceived by the government of the day. Hitler did not threaten us, we declared war, ignoring League of Nations.

Do you think the League of Nations could have stopped Hitler? Yes, earlier, perhaps over Spain, if the members had implemented Collective Security. But in September 1939? I'd love to believe it.
I posted on my blod today about the Fall of Singapore. You might be interested.
